Tasks in Pissouri

In this activity, participants had to explore the main attraction in our local village; Pissouri. They had to go through a lot of walking and take many pictures. They were able, in this way, to explore the main monuments, facts, and beauties of our hosting village. We are glad that the participants were cooperative and took some wonderful pictures.

📷 Task 1: Fountain

In the square of the village there is a graphical fountain with some art on it? What is the name of the fruits that are on it? (not real but sculpted one)? Can you find the history that is behind this fountain? Some villagers may help you. Take a photo with your group and the fountain together.

  • Ampelia (grapes) History: pissouri before tourism started this was the first place to export grapes to the UK. The fountain it's in memorie to of the grapes exports.
  • The name of the fruits is grapes. Pissouri has a very large production of sultanina grapes. The fountain was at first just a pit, but people rebuilt it and made it into a fountain.

📷 Task 2: Communal Amphitheater

The Communal Amphitheater of Pissouri is a new amphitheater with old design (coming from ancient theaters); find it and find the place where you can talk and be heard from everywhere. Take a photo of this place with your group in it. (If the amphitheater is closed you can take a photo at the entrance)

📷 Task 3: Point of view

There is a vast point of view in the village. Where is it? Can you find it? Next to this point of view there is one of the best cafeterias in the whole area of Limassol County. What is the name of the Cafeteria? Hint: it's a type of photography 😉 Go there and take a photo of the view from this point or with the people who work there.

📷 Task 5: VRAKAS 

Pissouri is growing and there are a lot of restaurants. In Pissouri square there is a restaurant named VRAKAS. What does that mean? How is this restaurant relying on the history and traditions of Cyprus? Bonus points if you get a picture with the name of the restaurant in the background!

📷 Task 6: PLATEA SYMPOSIO

There are a lot of taverns in the square and around. Can you also find the restaurant and café? What does Simposio mean in Greek? What about Platea? Can you take a photo with the name of the restaurant?
